Logo change
I did my logo change over Walmart. They choose this new logo because it was simple and still stayed true to the history of Walmart. They have been redoing stores with the logo since 2008. I like the new logo, it seems fresh and crisp. It almost has a "green" feel to it.

Self promo notepad - Final
This is what I ended up with. I created all of the artwork in Illustrator and the text in Indesign. My inspiration for the artwork was a record. I collect records and enjoy listening to them. All images were created by me and are copy write free.

Self promo notepad- Roughs
I pick two different thumbs and i combined them to make this rough. I took the text element from one and the record from the other.
Self promo notepad- Thumbs
For this assignment we had to design a self promotional notepad that expresses our skills. Those skills can be as a designer, illustrator, typography, photography, software, etc. The project also requires a QR code that will take you to this blog. This is used as something we can have a discussion over with a potential employer over the steps we used to make it.
The notepad specifications are that it has to 5x7 or 7x5, black and white with bleed or no bleed. It will be 50 sheets per pad and will be padded with a chip board back. I acquired a price quote from our printing services in whitesitt hall. To get one black and white notepad with bleed printed is $3.52 after tax. It only took one day to print and all they needed was the PDF of the notepad.
My target audience for this project is future employers as a talking piece. The call to action for this notepad is for the employer to scan the QR code and visit my blog or email me.
Photoshop Formats
This project is for making a post card where we can show the client different options. We first picked a copyright free image from istock photo. Then I brought it into Photoshop and changed the size and the resolution to 300. I made sure it was sized proportionally and not skewed. I changed the color mode to CMYK and saved it as a flattened tiff.
Everything is the same for this one except I changed the color mode to grayscale.
This one is called a duotone. They are always saved as a EPS file. To do this is a few more steps than the past two. Fist you convert the image to grayscale, then to duotone. We are printing in CMYK so i had to choose a color from the pantone process book. I chose like a blue-ish color. The other color will be black because if you use two different colors such as red and blue, they will mix and make purple. After that i just adjusted the colors as i saw fit. I then saved the file as an EPS.
This one is called a clipping path. I chose to do this with the CMYK version of the post card. First, you draw a selection around the area you want with the pen tool. Then you save that path as path 1. Select clipping mask for path 1 under the drop down menu. You should see the text of path 1 change to outlined type. Then you save as a flattened EPS.
